Minnesota State Advisory Council on Mental Health
The Minnesota State Advisory Council on Mental Health is seeking new members to begin in January 2012. The State Advisory Council advises the Governor, Legislature and state departments on policies, programs and services affecting adults with mental illnesses and children with emotional disturbances according to M.S. 245.697. It also serves as the state’s Planning Council under federal law. The state law requires the Council to have a Subcommittee on Children's Mental Health. The Council and Subcommittee each have approximately 30 members representing a broad array of stakeholders, including individuals who have received mental health services, their families, advocates, providers, state department representatives, county social services representatives and elected officials.

Hennepin County Adult Mental Health Advisory Council
Hennepin County is recruiting new members for the Hennepin County Adult Mental Health Advisory Council. Applications accepted November 14 through December 31, 2011. Candidates need to be a resident of Hennepin County. Duties include:
- Advise the County Board on adult mental health issues within Hennepin County.
- Monitor, study, and comment on mental health issues at federal, state, and local levels.
- Serve on standing and ad hoc committees related to mental health issues.
- Coordinate activities and issues with the state’s Adult Mental Health Advisory Council.
- Attend monthly meetings with no more than three unexcused absences annually.
